Jesus Calling by Sarah Young

An important part of fellowshipping with God is devoting time daily to study and pray. Besides the Kingdom Experiment, I have been reading Jesus Calling each day. The book provides short devotionals of how to seek God, and it supplies bible verses to go along with the topic of the day. I have found this book profoundly impacting and gripping. I wanted to share with you all the first message, in hopes that you will pick up this life-changing, 365 day study.
·         Attentiveness to God is crucial, when wanting to earnestly know Him more. The only true way that your heart and mind will be transformed, is if you give your life fully for Him. To truly see him 24/7, like He sees us, you must surrender  to your old ways and worldly things and open your mind to the overwhelming and incomprehensible joy of God, and He will lead you. You should desire to seek Him more, because His word fills you up. The journey to the “renewing of your mind” will be tough. “God never promised us we wouldn’t stumble, but He did promise we would never lose our souls (TobyMac).” Stumbles make us stronger and draw us closer to God.
·         Luke 9:23: Then He said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.
THIS WEEK: Work on truly giving my life to God, no matter what.
·         Romans 12:2: Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing, and perfect will.
THIS WEEK: Forget what the world thinks of us, and live SOLELY for God.
Try challenging yourself to live for God and enjoy His ever present Spirit!
Abby
